PFM and an end to the risks of water in Biodiesel

Updated: Sep 12, 2022

Biodiesel attracts and absorbs water far more readily than petrodiesel, and a tropical climate makes this a real issue. The ensuing contamination can and does cause chaos in engines.

Clean Green works directly with our strategic partner Proven Fuel Management Ltd and their patented technology developed 15 years ago. We fit PFM recirculation units to remove water as part of our fuel management solutions.

PFM units are able to deal with the three sources of water borne contamination:

Free water falls out of suspension in the biodiesel and gathers at the bottom of a tank where it promotes microbial growth - the diesel bug - in storage systems. According to PFM it takes just 8 km of driving for free water to become blended into an emulsified state, leading to more risks

Emulsified water is formed of very small droplets suspended in the biodiesel, sometimes evident in small droplets clinging to the inside of the tank.

Semi-absorbed or dissolved water has been chemically absorbed in the fuel and will cause serious damage in fuel lines, pumps and fuel injectors.

Passing fuels 4 to 5 times through a PFM Blue Unit within a 24 hour period will ensure the biodiesel in store and in use in your engine is constantly protected.

PFM and CG work together to ensure your biodiesel fuel remains in top condition.
